Great night at Back To The Beat

While we have tried to put Back To The Beat in a box, that is define the forum and program, we have quickly learned to expect the unexpected. Each evening is different from the rest, and yet beautiful and entertaining to all.

Last evening began with a review of the artwork of Sir Jonathan Walker. Jonathan is an incredibly talented artist best known for his portrait work. Sir Jon is a world traveler (lived in Egypt, Japan, and many other places) and is well known in Los Angeles and Las Vegas for his art. He has created portraits of many of the famous celebrities and sports stars in those locales. Using a single pencil, and no eraser, he creates uncanny likenesses that capture their essence. His work has been purchased, and others signed, by many celebrities.

But Sir Jonathan is a multi-faceted individual with many skills. We learned, and heard, about his writings into metaphysics and numeretics. He is a published author of several books, with more in the stages of completion.

We also heard some of the wonderful poetry of Ranaan David. Ranaan is a native of Israel who now makes his home in Seattle as a videographer. He has created unique art videos that we hope he will share at a future date. His professional work can be found here.

Back To The Beat goes beyond an opportunity to present material. It represents an opportunity to discuss work at the philosophical and spiritual level, and open the door to possibilities of expression beyond this one evening. Come and experience Back To The Beat for yourself.

Back To The Beat Performance Scheduled

Last week we welcomed talented poet Liam Spencer. A small group was on hand to hear some cutting edge readings. Thank you, Liam.

This week we are proud to welcome Brian Hutton who will present his performance art entitled "Return Of the 20th Century Man".  Brian makes his home in Anchorage, Alaska, but is a regular to Seattle as well. Other artists will be presenting, so this promises to be a "don't miss" night. Please join us for another great night of fun, creativity, and intellectual enrichment.

Next Back To The Beat, Wednesday Aug. 8

Back To The Beat returns this Wednesday, August 8 from 7 to 9 pm. Poetry, acoustic music, readings, stories....whatever your rhythm,  come join us. This is a free event. Kerf International is located in the Wallingford Center at the corner of N 45th Street and Wallingford Avenue in Seattle.

"Horizon Line Of Infinity" Opening

Last Wednesday, Kerf International Exhibits presented an opening for "Horizon Line Of Infinity", a installation piece by Willard Thurston Watertight. The opening was planned around the Wallingford district Art Walk, which takes place on the first Wednesday of alternating months.

A good crowd was on hand to witness the opening, supported by friends of the gallery, as well as those taking place in the Art Walk. For many, it may have been the first time to actually view art as a one-piece installation. It was interesting to view the conversations taking place.

Also on hand to add to this nice evening, were the singing duo of Sound + Noise, who played their own original music and some covers. Sound + Noise consists of Nathalie and Autumn. Their music can be heard on the internet here.

The exhibition will be in place through at least the end of July.
