Back To The Beat Week 2

A fun night in week two of Back To The Beat. Two exceptionally talented artists kept us captivated with their music and poetry. Arthur James played and sang his original music on his twelve string guitar backed up on Cajon drum by Michael Scott Brooks. Arthur is moving to a full-time occupation as musician. His strong voice, adept musicianship, and delightful lyrics should find plenty of audiences.

Michael Scott then took center stage reading from his yet-unpublished book of poetry. That is a project which we hope he finishes! His poems were deep and thought-provoking and with just the right touch of humor at the appropriate time. The cadence and wording were beautifully crafted.

Both have promised to return to the Kerf for future performances. We can't wait.

Back To The Beat opening night a success.

An enjoyable time was had by those in attendance of our opening night of Back to the Beat. Christine read a poem that inspires her to start her day. Laura read two of her original poems on life experience. Carol read several poems on life and the human experience. Dave shared the history of the gallery and on his art creations of Spirit Generators. Patricia spoke on Navajo sand paintings and their meaning.

We will be back again next week. New contributors have already stated their intention to read and share. We welcome all to this unique experience.

Coming This Summer

A  confirmed community interaction event will be a series of art workshops for children. Taking place in July and August, each workshop will work with compatible age groups to teach painting. Most instruction will be with our instructor working with the children as they paint. These workshops are affordable and fun. Specifics on these workshops are forthcoming. If you are interested, contact us now for early reservations. No deposit is due at this time.

Get Involved

Kerf is a place to share your talent. Can you teach, and need a "space"? Would you like to perform in a non-threatening community setting? Are you interested in learning more about art, or having art be a part of your life? Contact us. We would love to hear your ideas and have you become a part of the Kerf community.

Not Just A Gallery

A number of very exciting things will soon be happening at the Kerf. For one, we have some great exhibitions planned. We are also building a space where people can come and learn, perform, and/or most importantly, interact with and meet others.  In short, we are developing a community interaction space: designed around the arts, but expanding the meaning to include a variety of events, learning opportunities, and artistic synergy.
